Oiiiii. I don’t even know where to begin. This past week was one of the epic-est weeks there has been in a while. On Tuesday we did our weekly tradition by taking the free bus and going to Shooters. Girls got 10 free drinks again and you can just imagine how that night ended. You can also imagine how funny the ass shaking competition was on stage. The things people do to get even more free alcohol is pretty hysterical. Wednesday came and went. On Thursday, I decided to switch it up and go out with my friends who live in Broadbeach. The club they go to every Thursday night, called East, has a deal where girls get free champagne until 11 and then from 12 on girls get whatever free drinks they want. Going into the night, everyone was warning us that no matter what mindset you have in the beginning, you will get really drunk. Boy how they were right. My friends from orientation who are studying in Sydney came up to the Gold Coast for a weekend. One of them got so drunk, he didn’t think he could make it home (the walk was 2 blocks long haha), casually fell asleep on the grass and woke up in a jail cell #casual. On Tuesday, aka Shooters night, one of my friends was drunk and ended up in a jail cell as well. Her bail was 5 cents. The government must be making bank off of these drunk people, it would only take 20 people for them to make a dollar! I don’t know what is with all of these jail escapades, but it’s a good story to tell. Anyway, back to Thursday night, it was epic. Free alcohol the whole night, didn’t spend a single cent….. until I was walking home and saw a kebab stand #fail. Friday, the girls and I just lounged around, did absolutely nothing. The one thing we did was watch 21 Jump Street and that doesn’t count as being productive. On Saturday, we rose bright and early to catch a bus into Byron Bay. Byron Bay is such a pretty beach town, very small and quaint. We lied on the beach for a while and then I left earlier to go skydiving :D. I wasn’t nervous at all leading up to it which is surprising for me. I was in a group with 4 other girls and we took off to jump 14,000 feet out of the airplane. The flight took about 20 minutes to reach the 14,000 and during this time I started to minorly freak out. I told my instructor that I couldn’t do it and he started laughing. Before I even had time to think about it more, we were sitting over the edge of the plane. And in a matter of seconds, I was free falling over the beautiful ocean at Byron Bay. The free fall was about a minute and a half, falling at over 250 mph. I guess I blacked out because I thought I was falling for maybe 5 seconds. All in all, it was a blast and I cannot wait to go again. I then went back to our hostel, walked around town a little bit and then met up with our guy friends. It was a chill night, we didn’t do anything special. We were gonna go out to this club, but instead opted for the beach to have some deep conversations. These conversations cannot be done soberly. On Sunday, we rose bright and early again to catch a bus into Nimbin. Nimbin is a very hippie town, and we went the weekend they were celebrating Mardi Grass. This is a festival for the legalization of weed. Holy cannoli, this needs to be on everyone’s bucket list. It was the hardest I’ve laughed in a really long time. Seeing hippies sell weed on the corner with police right there not giving a shit was awesome. It was definitely a different atmosphere that I’m used to. We went home that night to the Gold Coast. It was an awesome weekend that I will never forget, even though I do not fully remember. That’s about it for this week. Love and miss all of you! Ps- 23 days until my birthday, and 49 days until I’m home. Ahhhh :D Life is good!
